Turangawaewae Sports & Cultural Club
Turangawaewae Rugby League Sports and Cultural Club was established in 1947.
The club has a unique connection to the Kiingitanga (the Māori King Movement), the Turangawaewae Marae, and the Turangawaewae Rugby League Club.
This connection is deeply rooted in whakapapa (genealogy) and shared values.
The club’s name was derived from the marae, and its purpose was to provide a space for rest, relaxation, and physical activity after the hard work at the marae.
The principles of manaakitanga (hospitality), mahia te mahi (do the work), and whānaungatanga (kinship) were carried over from the marae to the club.
Waka Ama
