Taniwharau 80th Jubilee Celebration 2024
Within our modest club, we are a collective of people who dream big and make them a reality.
The commencement of the 80th Birthday festivities brought all the big dreamers together to
dedicate themselves to the weekend's events, subsequently uplifting the spirits of the wider community.
Friday evening marked a gathering of our extended family at our club.
Saturday morning witnessed a historic procession to the renowned Kumara Patch, f
ollowed by another momentous march along Huntly's Main Street.
At the club and the Whare Ora, there were events such as the Junior League and Netball Muster.
Two matches were held at Davies Park between our men's and women's teams and Invitational Teams.
Senior players teaching haka and skills at Davies park, a kids run through the Taniwharau changing room,
kai being provided (free) for all and finally just a simple carnival for all our kids and whaanau.
He kaupapa hiki wairua teenei raa.
Finally, it was a fitting end to a great weekend by celebrating the life of one of our staunchest supporters, Nanny/Aunty/Mum/Sister/Whanaunga...... Susie Rangi. Noo reira e te whaanau.
We extend our gratitude to all the visionaries who persistently dream and labour for our club.
A quote from Te Puea, a resolute matriarch of the Kiingitanga, seems quite appropriate.
“Ki te moemoea ahau, ko ahau anake. Ki te moemoea taatou, ka taea e taatou.”
